I give up. Refer to my last post "goin final results". I tore the top cover off again, put in a brand new seal (by the way, suzuki has made a different seal than the one on my 97 model). I used, Hopefully, the right gasket material, re-torqued the head and put it all back together again. Wife and I are headed out in the morning for a desert run out to palm springs. Hope the Savage is finally fixed. If not, I've done all I can. Next stop, qualified mechanic. Ride safe all.
